1281 meters high with a depth of 200 meters, Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe. You can reach the Vesuvius through a path within the Vesuvius National Park and visit the Museum of volcanological Vesuviano.
Upon reaching the quota of 1000 meters by car, bus or taxi from the parking area must continue to walk through a path that in about 20 minutes door to the edge of the crater. Access to the crater is a fee and is allowed only with the accompaniment of specialized guides.
Vesuvius from the Villa Julia is 20 km.
You can reach the Vesuvius:
A3 motorway (direction Salerno - Napoli) exit Ercolano / Portici; here follow the signs to Boscoreale away, then go straight to the crossroads of Via Cozzolino, passing the intersection to continue through San Vito and continue to rise;
A3 motorway (direction Salerno - Napoli) Torre del exit Greek, then follow the signs for Via De Nicola, and then by Vesuvius, after a smooth path of 3 km you reach a fork, parallel to the La Siesta restaurant where you should turn right and continue to rise.
Circumvesuviana (Napoli - Sorrento) stop at Herculaneum excavations, here take the bus operated by the Transportation Vesuviani or taxi that will take you in just over half an hour at Vesuvio (altitude 1000 meters).;
Ferrovie dello Stato (Naples-Salerno direction) to stop ercolano / Portici, here take the bus or taxi that will take you to Vesuvius (altitude 1000 meters).
