The Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary owes its thanks to the construction plan of Blessed Bartolo Longo. Begun in 1876 the sanctuary was completed in 1933-39 on a project by. Mgr. Spirit Chiappetta. Along the corridors adjacent to the Basilica are exposed numerous votive paintings representing episodes of thanks given to the Madonna of Pompeii. The higher the spot on the painting of the Madonna del Rosario, seventeenth-century painting, the school of Luca Giordano, adorned with gems and surrounded by the mysteries of the Rosary, painted on copper by Vincenzo Paliotto.
